Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By using Editsub (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use the Service. If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these Terms on its behalf.

3. The Service

Editsub provides online tools to edit, translate, convert and transcribe subtitles. Many tools are free and need no account; others require an account, a Pro subscription or credits. The free Service is supported by ads.

We may change, add or remove features. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

4. Your account

Keep your login details secure and your email address up to date. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has used it without permission.

5. Pro, credits and payments

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown before you buy and may include taxes.
  • Pro subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account and keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Pro includes a monthly credit allowance that resets each month and does not roll over. Credits from one-time packs do not expire while your account exists.
  • Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred and are used at the rates shown before each job. Credits held for a job that fails or is cancelled are released.
  • Refunds: we offer refunds within 7 days of purchase if you have not used a meaningful amount of credits. Contact support to request one. This does not limit any rights you have under consumer law.
  • If we change prices, the new price applies from your next billing period, and we will tell you before it does.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal purposes or to infringe copyright or other rights, including by uploading, transcribing or translating content you are not allowed to use
  • Submit content that is unlawful, abusive or exploits minors
  • Get around usage limits, credits or payments, for example by creating multiple accounts to obtain free allowances
  • Use bots, scrapers or automated requests outside the features we offer, or place an unreasonable load on the Service
  • Try to gain unauthorized access to the Service, probe its security, or introduce malicious code
  • Resell the Service or provide it to others without our written permission

7. Your content

You keep all rights to the subtitles, media and other content you upload or create (“Your Content”). You give us a limited license to host, process, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you and to the people you share it with.

You are responsible for having the rights to Your Content and for how you use the results.

8. AI and automated output

Translations, transcriptions and other AI output are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate. Review them before you use them. We do not guarantee that output is accurate, free of third-party rights or fit for a particular purpose.

9. Sharing and collaboration

When you share a file or folder, anyone with the link can access it with the permissions you set. You are responsible for who you share with and for content added by people you invite.

10. Third-party services and advertising

Video links, embedded players, ads and other third-party services are governed by their own terms. We are not affiliated with YouTube or other video platforms and are not responsible for third-party content or services.

The free Service shows third-party ads. We do not endorse the products advertised. Pro subscribers do not see ads.

11. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design and branding, belongs to Editsub and its licensors. These Terms give you no rights to it other than the right to use the Service as described here.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or if the law requires it. Where reasonable, we will tell you in advance.

Provisions that by their nature should survive, such as payments due, disclaimers and limitations of liability, survive termination.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Keep your own copies of important files.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Editsub is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Editsub against claims arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, notify signed-in users in the Service or by email. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept them. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version prevails.
